VP Powersports SAE 80W Gear Oil is a GL-4 specification gear lubricant formulated for wet clutch and wet brake applications in both 2-stroke and 4-stroke powersports equipment. GL-4 rating is critical for wet clutch compatibility — GL-5 oils contain friction modifiers that cause wet clutch slippage and are not suitable for motorcycle transmissions. VP's SAE 80W is specifically engineered for systems with soft metal components such as brass and bronze, common in powersports transmission designs.
The formulation features advanced anti-wear additives to protect gear teeth and transmission components under the shock loading of motocross use, while anti-corrosion and anti-foaming inhibitors maintain oil film integrity and prevent rust during storage periods.
