The 6D ATR-3 represents the pinnacle of motocross helmet engineering. At the heart of the ATR-3 is 6D's fifth-generation Omni-Directional Suspension™ (ODS) system — a patented, active in-helmet suspension technology exclusive to 6D Helmets. Unlike conventional helmets with a single foam liner, the ATR-3 uses a dual-layer design: an outer EPP multi-impact liner and a replaceable inner EPS liner, connected by five elastomeric isolation dampers. This architecture allows the inner liner to move in six degrees of freedom during an impact, dramatically reducing both linear and rotational acceleration forces transmitted to the brain. Independent testing shows the ATR-3 is 28.4% more effective at reducing angular acceleration than its closest competitor.
The outer shell is constructed from a 3K Carbon Composite — a proprietary woven blend engineered for maximum strength-to-weight performance. The result is a helmet that weighs approximately 1,350 grams (size M/L) while delivering protection that exceeds DOT, ECE 22-06, FIM FRHPhe-02, and ACU certification standards.

6D Helmets is an American premium helmet manufacturer specialising in Omni-Directional Suspension (ODS) technology for motocross and off-road applications. The ODS system uses dual-foam construction with elastomeric isolation dampers positioned between the inner and outer helmet shells, designed to manage both linear and rotational impact energy in a single integrated structure.
The ATR-2 and ATR-2Y models are produced in composite fibreglass and full carbon fibre shell configurations, certified to ECE 22.06 standard. 6D helmets are built for riders who prioritise impact energy management over minimum certification compliance — ODS technology reduces peak G-force transmission at impact velocities where single-foam helmets reach their energy absorption limit.
