The 6D ATR-2Y is the youth version of 6D's acclaimed ATR-2 adult motocross helmet, delivering the same award-winning ODS™ brain protection technology in a youth-specific shell designed for growing riders. As an authorised European dealer for 6D Helmets, Art of Racing offers the ATR-2Y — the most protective youth motocross helmet on the European market.
Inside the ATR-2Y is 6D's Omni-Directional Suspension™ (ODS) system — a patented, active in-helmet suspension technology exclusive to 6D. The tri-composite outer shell houses two independent foam liners: an EPP multi-impact outer liner with damping towers, and a replaceable EPS inner liner connected by elastomeric isolation dampers. During a crash, these dampers allow the inner liner to displace in all directions, dramatically reducing both linear and angular (rotational) acceleration forces. The youth version uses softer, more compliant materials to suit developing brains. Independent research confirms rotational acceleration is the primary cause of concussion — 6D's ODS system reduces it by more than half compared to conventional helmets.
The ATR-2Y exceeds DOT FMVSS 218, ECE 22-06, ACU, and ASTM certification standards. Its rebuildable design means the EPS liner can be replaced after a significant impact.

6D Helmets is an American premium helmet manufacturer specialising in Omni-Directional Suspension (ODS) technology for motocross and off-road applications. The ODS system uses dual-foam construction with elastomeric isolation dampers positioned between the inner and outer helmet shells, designed to manage both linear and rotational impact energy in a single integrated structure.
The ATR-2 and ATR-2Y models are produced in composite fibreglass and full carbon fibre shell configurations, certified to ECE 22.06 standard. 6D helmets are built for riders who prioritise impact energy management over minimum certification compliance — ODS technology reduces peak G-force transmission at impact velocities where single-foam helmets reach their energy absorption limit. Available in full-face motocross configuration with separate visor adjustment.
